Orange May Start Selling iPhone on November 10th

If rumors can be believed Orange is set to start selling the iPhone in the UK starting on November 10th. Orange has not yet made an official announcement for that date. Vodafone will be adding the iPhone to its network next year according to reports.
Mobile Provider 3 is also interested in offering the iPhone on its network. Multiple providers of the iPhone in the UK will be a great thing and may start price wars. Read more

Windows 7 Smashes Amazon Sales Records

Windows 7 officially launches tomorrow and many users are already enjoying the new OS through early upgrade programs and new systems that have been shipping with the OS installed. Those of us waiting for an upgrade have been able to pre-order Windows 7 for a while now on Amazon and other places.
The new OS has broken records for pre-order sales on Amazon according to the ecommerce giant. Amazon.co.uk has reported that the new OS sold more pre-order copies in the first 8 hours of availability than Vista was able to move in its entire pre-order period. Read more

HTC Hero Available On 3 With Free Spotify Premium Subscription

Carrier 3 offers in the UK a hot new deal with the HTC Hero Android phone.
According to the Telegraph for a £35-per-month, two-year contract, you get free premium subscription to the Spotify music service.
The offer will be available starting November, and you have to pay £99 for the HTC Hero.

The new Amazon Kindle U.S. & International Wireless is shipping today. Amazon announced the new International Kindle earlier this month. The new Kindle eBook can be ordered and used around the world in over 100 countries. Amazon ships the new Kindle directly from the U.S. store, which is an interesting approach to distribute a device globally.
Because of the weak Dollar the new Kindle eBook reader is actually not a bad deal in most countries despite shipping and custom fees.

Spring Unveils new Android-powered Dual-Screen eReader

A company called Spring Design has unveiled a new eReader running Android with dual screens. The reader is called Alex and its patented dual screen technology is known as the Duet Navigator. The Alex device supports multimedia links and text.
The main screen of the device is a monochrome electronic paper display and the multimedia screen below is a color LCD. The Android OS allows the device to surf the Internet over Wi-Fi or 3G mobile broadband service. Read more

The most popular apps for the iPhone tend to have something in common, they are free. Most people prefer the free apps but will spend a small amount of money to buy apps that work well and are fun to use.
Wolfram Alpha has unveiled a new app selling for £29.99 that looks like a search engine at first glance, but is actually a database of information and computational services. You can ask the app questions like how's the weather and it will give you statistical information. Read more

Samsung Unveils First External HDD with Reduced Standby Power of 95%

Samsung makes all sorts of products from TVs to hard drives for data storage. The company has added a new external storage solution to its line called the Story Station. The 3.5-inch external storage solution is the first to offer reduced idle power consumption.
Samsung claims that the Story Station is compliant with the coming European Union EuP Directive for Standby Regulation of power set to go into effect in January. Samsung has been able to lower the standby power requirements of the Story Station by over 95% to 0.09W from the previous 2.5W. Read more

Sky Player Coming to Fetch TV in 2010

Sky has announced that starting next year its Sky Player will be coming to Fetch TV. The move will bring video on demand to the Fetch TV platform. Customers using the new dual tuner Freeview+ set top box will get access to the new content.
In early 2010, the Sky Player will hit the platform complementing BBCs iPlayer that is already on the Fetch TV service. IP Vision is also said to be working on a new electronic programming guide. Read more

HP Unveils DV8 Notebook in UK

HP has unveiled a new multimedia notebook for the UK called the dv8. The machine is an entertainment laptop with a visually captivating exterior according to HP. The screen of the machine is 18.4-inches with full HD resolution.
Other features include an integrated TV tuner, Blu-ray player, and a built-in subwoofer. The exterior of the notebook is covered in a scratchproof metallic surface with the HP Imprint pattern. The battery is the long life Sonata unit that can be recharged more than 1,000 times. Read more
