European's Fear Data Loss

In a world of advanced computer technology and non-stopping data transfer, 22 percent European businesses expect to experience “major data loss” of some kind within the next five years, while only 10 percent of US businesses expect the same.

US data loss is reported to be due to lost laptops and hacker attack. But, net security firm Symantec revealed a survey of 500 IT managers who fear IT security breaches have doubled the possibility among IT pros in the EMEA region. Most survey participants expect some kind of security or IT incident in the next five years. Two-thirds of the people surveyed expect a major security breach in the next five years; whereas 58 percent fear data loss via a data centre outage, corruption of data or breach of security within five years.
