Sony wins Sustainable Energy Europe Award

Sony was awarded the Sustainable Energy Europe Award at the Residence Palace in Brussels by the European Commission on February, 1, 2007. This is the first time a consumer electronics entertainment company has ever been recognized for such a prestigious award by the European Commission.

Sony was recognized for efficiently maximizing one of its BRAVIA LCD TV models. Not to mention, all Sony BRAVIA TVs’s standby power consumption is below one watt, and 30 of them achieve .03 watts, which is far below the market average. Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Energy, states, "The Awards are aimed at highlighting the successes of the most outstanding projects and rewarding the Sustainable Energy Partners most worthy of recognition and praise."
