BBC is said to be getting an iPlayer app ready for the iPhone. Tome this isn’t really a surprise as much as a what took so long. The app is said to offer TV downloads and interactive options as well.
The app is expected to support the BBC catch-up platform on the iPhone and the on-demand service is available on WiFi only right now. DigitalSpy reports that the app will also have the ability to send messages.
The BBC also reports that the iPhone and iPod touch are now accounting for 7% of total iPlayer requests for programming and 3% for radio requests. In October, the iPlayer received 79.3 million requests for programming.
