HTC has put a new firmware for the Hero up on its website. The ROM is 2.73.405.5 and it is now on the UK HTC website after launching across Europe previously.

The main fix for the new firmware is to update the phones performance and it also includes a new touch to focus feature for the camera. Install claims to take ten minutes.

The update can only be downloaded on Windows computers. Some users have reported long delays in the download process and since the update is on the HTC site, any special features you carrier added will be gone.
