There are lots of areas in the UK that aren’t served by Broadband connections. These areas tend to be more rural and lack the infrastructure needed for broadband connectivity. BT has announced that it is set to trial new technology that could offer people in areas with no broadband faster speeds.
BT claims that 3 million UK homes have no access to broadband. The new tech is called BET and is able to extend the reach of broadband from telephone exchanges from the current 5KM or under to 12KM.
That means that homes over twice as far from the exchange will be able to access broadband. The tech has already been used in Scotland and worked well. UK citizens of Cumbria will get the new tech first.
