Hardware makers Pledge Google OS Support

I was a bit surprised to hear yesterday that Google was announcing a chrome OS aimed at netbooks and other computers. The reason I was surprised is that Android was starting to catch on and generate buzz as an OS for netbooks.
I have to wonder if the Chrome OS will push Android aside in the computer market once it launches. Perhaps that is what Google wants, Android on smartphones only.
Google has announced that they are working with many of the largest hardware and computer makers to bring systems running Chrome OS to market. The firms include Acer, Asus, Freescale, HP, Lenovo, and Toshiba. The OS is set to debut on systems in 2010.
