Microsoft has launched a new beta version of its free computer security software pack aimed at consumers. The software is called Microsoft Security Essentials.
The software carried the codename Morro and will be available to the first 75,000 customers using Windows Vista, XP, and Windows 7. The security suite includes real time protection, rootkit protection and more.
The software promises a small footprint and is replacing Windows Live OneCare, a subscription antivirus tool. This is the long anticipated free antivirus offering from Microsoft.
