My washing machine uses gallons of water to clean a full load of clothes. A new eco friendly washing machine created by researchers in the UK could go on sale as early as next year and needs only 1 cup of water for a full load.

Most of the water is replaced with reusable polymer beads that attract and absorb dirt. The clothes reportedly come out just as clean but needs 90% less water and 30% less energy.

The biggest issue I see with the design is extracting those polymer beads from your laundry without ending up with them in your dryer or all over the laundry room floor.
