Mercedes Developing External Airbag

Mercedes is working on a new airbag technology that will be used outside the car. The airbag would deploy to help stop the car when sensors find a head on collision is inevitable.
The airbag would deploy under the front of the car milliseconds before the crash and act as an anchor rubbing along the road to slow the car.
According to Mercedes, the experimental airbag doubles the stopping power of the cars brakes and helps prevent passengers inside the car from slipping out of seatbelts. Mercedes believes the airbag will be standard on its vehicles in the next 7 years.
