A group of researchers at the University of Warwick Manufacturing Group has devised an environmentally friendly racing car. The group has devised a formula 3 racing car that meets all current Formula 3 standards for the fuel it burns, which is biodiesel.

The majority of the car is made from components derived from plant materials. The steering wheel is derived from carrots and other root vegetables, the seat is made from flax fiber and soybean oil, all lubricants are plant oil based and the biodiesel engine is configured to run on fuel made from waste chocolate and vegetable oil.

The car was designed to show that racing can be done with vehicles using environmentally sustainable components. Formula 3 rules currently prevent racing cars from burning biodiesel fuel.
