According to an analyst at Macquarie Securities Nintendo makes $6 profit off each Wii console it sells. That might not sound like a massive amount of profit per system, but when you consider that other major game consoles are sold at a loss it is impressive.

Sony loses money on each PS3 and Microsoft breaks even on the Xbox 360. Nintendo also sells tons of Wii consoles with a target of 220 million units for 2008.

Nintendo bolsters profits further by selling 60% of the game titles for the system itself. Microsoft only sells 30% of its titles itself and Sony only sells 15% of its own titles.
