Sony Recalls VAIO TZ Notebooks Around the World

In 2006, Sony was forced to recall 10 million batteries used in many different brands of notebooks around the world due to fire risk. Yesterday Sony was forced to issue a recall on nearly 500,000 of its TZ series notebook computers.

The notebooks covered in the recall present a burn hazard due to misplaced wires in the hinge and a screw that can come loose and cause a short, leading to possible fire.

Sony reports that at least one person in America has received minor burns due to the problem. Not all notebooks are covered in the recall so Sony says that owners of the TZ series notebooks need to call customer service to find out if their system is involved.
