Apple iPhone Ads Banned for Being Misleading

The UKs advertising monitors Advertising Standards Authority has banned Apple iPhone ads for promising more than the Internet capabilities of the phone can deliver. One of the banned ads reportedly showed the browsing prowess of the iPhone with zooming images.

The voiceover said that you would never know what part of the Internet you would need so get it all on the iPhone. Two complaints were received about the ads because the iPhone doesn't support Flash or Java.

Both technologies are widely used online meaning far from the entire Internet is available. Apple said the ad was merely meant to show you could view the real websites, not stripped down WAP versions you get on most smartphones.
