BBC is dropping the silly restriction it had of only making past episode of its programs available via the iPlayer for 7 days. Starting on September 13th BBC shows will be available for the entire season allowing you to catch up at your leisure.
This is a very welcome feature that makes the BBC iPlayer much more competitive against the likes of Channel 4's similar service that has allowed full series to remain online for a long time. Now you can get behind on your favorite shows and not have to hope for a rerun.
"Series stacking will really make the unmissable, unmissable," said BBC Vision's Controller of Multiplatform and Portfolio, Simon Nelson. "Now, you'll be able to join a series half way through following a friend's recommendation and catch up on all the previous episodes - or watch them all in one go over a weekend. Series stacking marks a key development in our strategy to let audiences view our programmes whenever and wherever they want."
