According to Register Hardware O2 is blaming Apple for the “frustrating and disappointing experience” those who tried to get an iPhone 3G this week have dealt with. According to O2 Apple has been unable to provide it with enough stock of the iPhone 3G despite 02’s request for more devices.
If you were wondering if the iPhone 3G would be in short demand I guess that is your answer. 02 says the device will be in very short supply for weeks. O2 says that it was receiving pre-orders in the amount of 13,000 per second when its website collapsed this week.
O2 has opted to split the limited number of devices between existing customers who pre-ordered and new customers and will provide them on a first come first served basis. I’m betting the lines are already forming at your local O2 store.
