UK's The Sunday Times today features a story about the high cost of international data roaming. As the iPhone 3G is making it so easy to consume media, it is tempting to download large data files while traveling outside of the UK.
The Times caculates that an average BBC iPlayer video, would cost £900 if you were in France and £1,800 for someone visiting America.
International Data roaming fees at least in Europe are still not acceptable and the EU is actually trying to get carriers to charge less.
Good thing that there are more and more Wifi hotspots around the globe. Satisfy your music and video craving at a hotspot and enjoy a cup of coffee. You can switch of data roaming in the new iPhone 3G by the way.
More details on Times.
