Today is D-day for the much anticipated Steve Jobs keynote at the WWDC 2008. Jobs is expected to pull the 3G iPhone, possible called iPhone 2 out of his pocket and send hoards of geeks around the world running to stand in line to buy one.
While rumors are still flying about the feature set, the only feature that is virtually guaranteed is 3G compatibility. The lack of 3G is seen as one of the reasons the iPhone didn’t sell as well in Europe as it did in the US. Other possible features include a camera facing the user for video calls and GPS.
GPS is a much more likely feature than the second camera which some reports say simply isn’t going to be offered. As much a point of debate as the features of the device is the price. Some rumors say European cellular providers may offer the new iPhone as a free upgrade to existing iPhone users. Admittedly that one sounds farfetched. More likely is that the new iPhone will sell for much less than the first generation device thanks to provider subsidies.
