Pocket-lint says this morning that it has confirmed via Apple that the WWDC keynote speech, where Steve Jobs is widely expected to announce the new 3G iPhone, won’t be simulcast to journalists in the UK as it is traditionally.

Pocket-lint believes this points to one of two possibilities. The first, and least likely, is that Apple simply won’t be announcing the new iPhone at WWDC and therefore doesn’t need to simulcast the key note.

The second and much more likely is that Apple will be having a separate conference and launch event for the 3G iPhone in the UK at a later date due to the fact that the 3G iPhone will be available in the UK much later than it will be in the US. The original iPhone was on store shelves in June in the US and didn’t hit the UK until November. UK journalists will have to make due with watching the key note via Apple’s website.
