The first preview of the Google Android phone has been shown and the device has some pretty interesting features. The device will allow owners to unlock it by drawing a secret shape on the screen. The so-called signature unlocking tool was among the features shown at a California sneak peak.

Times Online reports that other highlights of the device include a built-in compass to allow users to orient maps to their location and a customizable home page. A mobile version of the video game Pac Man will also be included.

According to Google Android project head Andy Rubin Android will work equally well for touch screen devices and devices that use other input methods like the BlackBerry trackball. The first Android devices are expected to ship this year.
