Dell Getting Into Mini-Notebook Market

Dell is getting into the lower cost mini-notebook market to compete against the Asus Eee. Michael Dell himself unveiled the little red notebook to Brian Lam from Gizmodo at the All Things Digital Conference. Dell’s official blog says Dell “positioned it as the perfect device for the next billion internet users.”

No specs or pricing have been announced for the device, but it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to see it come with the recently announced Intel Atom processor. Performance won’t be record setting in such a small machine, but it should serve well for some users.

Exactly what OS the machine runs is unknown, but knowing that Dell tends to favor Window’s money says it will run a version of XP or perhaps Vista though I wouldn’t rule out some flavor of Linux.
