Digg Set to Launch iPhone App Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Apparently, a couple of journalists tricked Digg founder Kevin Rose into unveiling that Digg was getting ready to launch an app for the iPhone. Rose was reportedly caught playing with the app while making a guest appearance in London at the Future of Web Apps conference.

Digg making an iPhone app is hardly a surprise given the popularity of the iPhone. The app is expected to have a built-in browser since the iPhone can only run one thing at a time. Read more

Starbucks Launches iPhone App and Free Wi-Fi Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Starbucks has unveiled a plan in the UK that will see it offer free Wi-Fi to loyal customers while on its premises to encourage people to drink more of its over priced coffee.

Customers with Starbucks cards will be able to get Wi-Fi free at any location in the UK and Ireland. That means that if you aren’t a BT customer you can now get free Wi-Fi at the coffee house. Read more

Opera 10 has launched and is available for download on Windows, Linux, and Mac systems. The official launch comes a mere week after the RC version was offered.

The new browser features Opera Turbo, a compression engine designed to speed up slow web connections. Opera 10 promises to run up to eight times faster on slow connections. Read more

BT Hits 500,000 Hotspot Number Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review BT has announced that its massive hotspot network now totals 500,000 around the UK. The company isn't content with 500,000 though, it is shooting for a million hotspots.

BT offers the hotspots all around the UK via its Openzone network with hotspots in places like Hilton, Ramada Jarvis, and Thistle hotels. The hotspots are also offered in Starbucks and Caffe Nero. Read more

The study was conducted by npower and shows that an average kid spends 9 hours and 54 minutes watching screens.

According to the study 2 hours and 43 minutes of that time is spent watching TV. The study also claims that kids spend 54 minutes per day looking at playlists on their iPods. Read more

Illegal Music Downloading Declines Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review A study has been commissioned in the UK that suggests that illegal music downloading has declined this year, albeit only slightly. According to the survey, illegal downloading of music files has declined from 63% to 61%. The survey also claims that 85% of those surveyed in the report would pay for an unlimited music download service. The survey polled 1,808 music fans 18 to 24 years old from across the UK.

Of that percentage that said they would pay for an unlimited music download service, 77% of them said they would also buy CDs. I wonder if these survey respondents are simply more comfortable with lying this year. Read more

The ads in question were for the iPhone 3GS and showed different apps with the tag line "only on the iPhone."

Some viewers of the ads took offense because similar apps can be accessed on Google's marketplace. Apple defended the ads claiming that the line "here's an app for just about everything" couldn’t be said about the Google Marketplace. Read more

Courts Clear Google of Defamation Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review A UK court has cleared search giant Google of any responsibility in a defamation suit brought against it in court. The suit held that Google was responsible for the remarks that were returned in its search result, blogs, and forums.

A high court judge cleared Google of defamation and said that the search giant only makes the information available instead of being the direct publisher. London's metropolitan International Schools filed the case. Read more
