Archos 3G PMP Could Hit UK Soon

Pocket-lint says that it has received an invite to an Archos press event that claims to have an exciting announcement to share. The event is slated for July 10th in London and will be made by Tony Limrick, Archos UK managing Director.
The tagline for the event is "entertainment your way” leafing speculation that the announcement will be that the 3G Archos PMP will be making its way to the UK. The 3G device would allow streaming and downloads of music and movies over cellular networks. Read more

Speedo Waterproof MP3 Player

When most of us hear the Speedo name we think of tiny swimsuits that should only be worn by Olympic athletes. The reality of the Speedo is that anytime you go to the beach at least a few people, traditionally those too heavy or too old to wear them, are to be seen wearing the “manties”.
Speedo has introduced a new waterproof MP3 player that is much too bulky to be attached to their tiny swimsuits. However, it looks like a good fit for the swim caps Speedo also makes. Speedo says that the player is good for 9 hours of playback per charge and weighs only 35 grams. Read more

Ricoh GX200 Camera Review

TrustedReviews has posted a review of the Ricoh GX200 digital camera, which is the follow-up to last year’s GX100 digital camera. The GX200 is a 12MP camera with a 1/1.7-inch CCD with image stabilization. The cam features a 2.7-inch LCD and a variety of exposure and manual control options.
The camera can also record video clips at 640x480 and 320 x 240 resolutions. Images can be stored to 58MB of internal memory and to SD/SDHC memory cards in jpeg or RAW formats. An optical viewfinder can be removed for those preferring to use the LCD to line up shots. Read more

800 Illegal Downloads Stored on the Average iPod

A study from the University of Hertfordshire claims that the average iPod has 842 illegally downloaded songs stored on its drive. The survey questioned 1,200 participants and found that 2/3 of young people download illegal music.
The average number of illegal songs downloaded per month is 53. The study also says that 42% of 14 to 24 year olds admit to uploading music onto sharing networks. British Music Rights commissioned the study. Read more

cenOmax 3.5-inch Digital Photo Frame

Digital photo frames are a great way to view and share all the images we shoot with our digital cameras. Being able to take photos on the go with you is a nice way to keep your family and friends close on your travels.
A new digital photo frame from cenOmax is set to debut in Europe in June featuring a 3.5-inch screen with a 320 x 240 resolution. The aspect ratio of the screen is 4:3 and the brightness is 350 (350 of what measurement was not specified) and the contrast ratio is 400:1. Read more

Cool iRiver Spinn to launch in August in UK

iRiver unveiled the iRiver Spinn PMP in January. The iRiver Spinn features a 3.3 inch AMOLED color display and offers functions like DMB TV, movie player, music player, photo player, text viewer, Fm radio, and recording. The storage capacity ranges from 4GB to 16GB.
CNET's Crave (Via OLED-Info) reports now that the iRiver Spinn will ship in August in the UK. The UK release of the Spinn actually features DAB radio support.

Devotech Industries announced its lightest and smallest solar charger yet with a weight of only 80g and about the size of a first generation iPod Nano. While small the charger still has enough power in its 1800mAh battery to charge a cell phone or MP3 player twice before it needs to be charged itself.
The internal battery in the charger can be topped off by solar power and can charge from the mains or USB as well. Multiple adapters are included to charge Nokia, Motorola, Blackberry, mini USB, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, PSP, digital cameras and iPod’s. Read more

Cranking MP3 Player Needs no AC Outlet

Hard core music fans that also the outdoors where they are away from a power outlet to charge their devices have a new device that will help prevent them from running out juice for their music. GeekStuff4U has a new MP3 player called the Cranking MP3 Player.
Not a very good name for sure, but the gadget gets power for playback from turning a crank on the side of the player. According to the specs one minute of cranking gives you ten minutes of playback. A minute may not sound like much, but I can see that being a pain when you have to spend 10 minutes cranking your MP3 player to listen to an entire album. Read more

Details on the Archos 606 Revealed

Some details about the upcoming Archos 606 PMP have been revealed. The 606 will be the first Archos device to feature HSDPA Internet access. Other features of the PMP include a touch screen that is slightly larger than the older 650.
The gadget should sport the black case familiar to many Archos units and a 30GB HDD for storage of music and video. No VOIP calls will be possible with the device; the HSDPA is for data access only. Read more
