The eBook market is hot right now with the Kindle, Nook and other devices coming very soon. With so much buzz around the eBook category, other manufacturers are looking to jump into it as well. Creative has announced that it will be entering into the eBook market with a device.

The Creative MediaBook Zii will be internet enabled and promises to provide more to users than the current crop of devices is able to do. The Zii reader will be able to show video, pictures, text, and services on one device. Read more

Spring Unveils new Android-powered Dual-Screen eReader

A company called Spring Design has unveiled a new eReader running Android with dual screens. The reader is called Alex and its patented dual screen technology is known as the Duet Navigator. The Alex device supports multimedia links and text.

The main screen of the device is a monochrome electronic paper display and the multimedia screen below is a color LCD. The Android OS allows the device to surf the Internet over Wi-Fi or 3G mobile broadband service. Read more

Sony Unveils Wireless eReader

Sony launched a new wireless reader this week to go along with the two new readers it introduced not so long ago. When Sony unveiled its kindle fighting reader the on the thing it was missing was wireless connectivity.

This week Sony unveiled its first eReader with integrated wireless. The device sells for $399 and can store up to 1000 blocks in its internal memory and download them over mobile networks. The Sony device gets its connectivity from AT&T and has a 7-inch screen. Read more

Amazon Kindle to Launch in UK

Amazon is close to launching the Kindle reader in the UK. Amazon has reportedly handed the manufacturing operations for the build of the Kindle to Qualcomm in the UK.

Amazon has reportedly been in talks with Vodafone and Orange, but those talks proved unsuccessful. The connectivity will come from Qualcomm as well. Read more

World's Smallest Microwave Uses USB

Heinz has teamed up with GAMMA Microwave Technology to offer the world's smallest microwave. The little kitchen gadget is powered by your PCs USB port. The tiny little device measures 150 x 160 x 190mm and will fit a cup of coffee.

You can also cook up your snap pot of Heinz baked beans. According to the makers of the device, it is aimed at the legions of workers who miss lunch each day because they are too busy to leave. Read more

Microsoft Announces Zune HD

Microsoft has announced the new Zune HD media device and added to it some amazing new features that will surely see sales increase dramatically.

The Zune HD is the first portable media player with built-in HD Radio receiver, HD video output capabilities, OLED touch screen, wi-fi, and internet browser. "The Zune music player is an integral part of the overall Zune experience and we're proud to be growing and extending our offering beyond the device," said Enrique Rodriguez, corporate vice president of the Microsoft TV, Video and Music Business Group. "Delivering on Microsoft's connected entertainment vision; this news marks a turning point for Zune as it brings cross-platform experiences and premium video content to living rooms around the world." Apple Ups Price of Some iTunes Tracks

Apple has increased the price of some of the digital tracks on its iTunes store with prices for the UK going to 50 pence, 79 pence, and 99 pence. This change in track pricing is the first price change since 2003.

Odds are the new pricing reflects increase royalty payments demanded by music studios. New songs get more expensive, but older tracks actually got a bit cheaper. Read more

UK gadget fans looking for a new Sony Reader may want to hop over to their local John Lewis store to pick up the exclusive red Sony Reader. The device has previously been offered in the US, but this is its first trip to Europe.

Maplin Car Microwave is Weird

The last time I was driving in my car, I can't say I thought what I really needed was a microwave. I guess I could see the need for a microwave in something like a camper, or large van on long trips, but for the most part it seems kind of weird.

A company called Maplin has announced a compact and portable indoor microwave that promises high-speed cooking times while inside your car. The maker claims the microwave can cook a slice of pizza in two minutes or reheat a cup of coffee in three minutes. Read more
