T-Mobile UK Increases Upload Speeds 5x

T-Mobile has followed in the footsteps of Vodafone and released its own HSUPA mobile packages in the UK. T-Mobile says starting today users can get access to the HSUPA network with upload speeds booster to 1.4 Mbps.
T-Mobile will is also in the process of updating its 3G network for download speeds of 7.2Mbps. The faster download speeds will initially come to the greater London area. Read more

O2 to start early Morning selling iPhone 3G in UK

The only thing Steve Jobs announced is the date when the iPhone 3G is going to be available in 22 markets around the world.
As we get closer the discussions and rumors heat up on how the July 11th will go down in detail.
AppleInsider reports that O2 will already open their stores at 7:05am or 7:02am, ahead of normal shopping hours.

Nokia Supernova Handsets Coming in Q3

Leaked info on the Nokia Supernova line has been turning up online for a few weeks now and Nokia has finally officially announced the line. The supernova series will hit stores in Q3 of this year and has four handsets in the line.
The Nokia 7310 is a candy bar style device that features Xpress-On covers for quickly changing the looks of the device. The 7310 also has a TV-out, FM tuner and a MP3 player. The 7210 has fewer features than the 7310 but does get a microSD card slot for memory expansion. Read more

O2 PAYG iPhone 3G Pricing Leaked

A glitch on the O2 website last night may have revealed details of the pay as you go plan for the new iPhone 3G. According to Shiny Shiny the site for the service was live for a little bit and shows that the 8GB and 16GB iPhone 3G would be offered.
The 8GB phone would sell for £299 and a 16GB version would go for £359. Those prices really aren’t bad for someone looking to get the new iPhone without agreeing to a contract. Exactly what cost the O2 PAYG plans would require for the phone weren’t shown. Read more

Apple Slips in Green Electronics Rankings with iPhone 3G

Greenpeace says the new iPhone 3G doesn’t have better eco sensibility than the original. According to Greenpeace Apple missed a big chance to improve the environmental impact of the new iPhone.
According to the Greenpeace Guide to Greener Electronics the new iPhone actually made Apple’s green rating backslide. Nintendo is still the lowest ranked firm on the list with Apple slipping deep into the red. Read more

Rumored Details on iPhone 3G Launch from O2 Surface

UK iPhone 3G hopefuls better get up early to get their hands on one of the anticipated devices on launch day. Register Hardware says that a staffer from O2 has offered some details on the launch of the phone.
The devices will be allowed to leave the store on July 11th starting at 7am assuming you can pass the credit check. The details supposedly came from a poster at MacRumors who claims an O2 employee in a Midlands store told him the information. Read more

Nokia Offers to Purchase Symbian Ltd

Nokia is on a quest to maintain its worldwide dominance in cellular handset sales. Nokia is reported to hold about 40% of the worldwide handset market. One of the hottest segments of that market is smartphones.
The Symbian OS is the most popular smartphone operating system around with about 60% of that smartphone market. Currently Nokia owns a 48% share of Symbian Ltd and is looking to add the remaining 52% of Symbian to its portfolio. Read more

Orange Dance Dance Charge Solution

At some point in the future if your cell phone runs out of juice you may have to dance to get it working again. Orange has shown off a prototype device called the Orange Dance Charge that captures the energy from dancing and turns it into power for your phone.
Orange says that the charger is the result of months of research and could be used to power mobile devices during summer dance festivals. The prototype device weighs 180grams and measures 4.25 x 2.4 inches. Read more

Do not Data Roam with the iPhone 3G

UK's The Sunday Times today features a story about the high cost of international data roaming. As the iPhone 3G is making it so easy to consume media, it is tempting to download large data files while traveling outside of the UK.
The Times caculates that an average BBC iPlayer video, would cost £900 if you were in France and £1,800 for someone visiting America.

T-Mobile and Bebo Team Up for Social Networking

T-mobile and the leading social networking site in the UK, Bebo, have teamed up to add Bebo and Piczo to T-Mobile’s My Social Sites Service. Users in the UK can use the services and stay in touch wherever their T-Mobile device operates.
Users can also upload photos taken with their camera phones directly to the sites. T-Mobile says that Bebo and Piczo will be added to the existing social networking sites including Xanga, LiveJournal, BlackPlanet and Vox. Read more

Sony C905 8MP Camera Phone Coming to Britain

Sony has released a new mobile phone that is more like a quality entry level digital camera than your average phone. The camera in the phone is an 8.1MP unit with a Zenon flash and some other features you normally don’t think of when you look at camera phones.
The C905 also has image stabilization, red-eye reduction and face detection. Other interesting features include a 2.4-inch LCD, geo-tagging for images, HSDPA connectivity and Wi-Fi support. The camera also ships with a 2GB M2 memory stick Read more
