Devotec Launches Smallest and Lightest Solar Charger Yet

Devotech Industries announced its lightest and smallest solar charger yet with a weight of only 80g and about the size of a first generation iPod Nano. While small the charger still has enough power in its 1800mAh battery to charge a cell phone or MP3 player twice before it needs to be charged itself.
The internal battery in the charger can be topped off by solar power and can charge from the mains or USB as well. Multiple adapters are included to charge Nokia, Motorola, Blackberry, mini USB, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, PSP, digital cameras and iPod’s. Read more

Cranking MP3 Player Needs no AC Outlet

Hard core music fans that also the outdoors where they are away from a power outlet to charge their devices have a new device that will help prevent them from running out juice for their music. GeekStuff4U has a new MP3 player called the Cranking MP3 Player.
Not a very good name for sure, but the gadget gets power for playback from turning a crank on the side of the player. According to the specs one minute of cranking gives you ten minutes of playback. A minute may not sound like much, but I can see that being a pain when you have to spend 10 minutes cranking your MP3 player to listen to an entire album. Read more

Details on the Archos 606 Revealed

Some details about the upcoming Archos 606 PMP have been revealed. The 606 will be the first Archos device to feature HSDPA Internet access. Other features of the PMP include a touch screen that is slightly larger than the older 650.
The gadget should sport the black case familiar to many Archos units and a 30GB HDD for storage of music and video. No VOIP calls will be possible with the device; the HSDPA is for data access only. Read more

Olympus Launches World's Smallest DSLR

Olympus announced a new DSLR camera today called the E-420, which it claims to be the world’s smallest DSLR camera. The small DSLR is sized more like a typical point-and-shoot camera. The cam uses a 10MP sensor and has a live view LCD screen.
Olympus packs 28 shooting modes into the small camera. In addition to the 2.7-inch live view LCD the camera also features an optical view finder as well. Other features include a dust removal system and the ability to shoot bursts of up to 3.5 fps with a 9 image RAW buffer. Read more

Magellan Adds Three New GPS units in Europe

Magellan announced a trio of new GPS devices for Europe today called the RoadMate 1400 series. These GPS units were first announced at CES 2008 and are only now launching in Europe.
The 1400 series has 4.3-inch LCD touch screens, new designs for map and menu screens and a more intuitive user interface. The 1400 entry level model comes with NAVTEQ maps for Great Britain, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. Read more

Creative Stone Finally Gets UK Release Date

PMP fans looking for something not from Apple may have had their eye on the Creative Stone MP3 players that were announced at the end of 2007. It’s taken Creative a long time to actually provide a UK release date for the tiny little players. Creative says that the Stone will be available in 2GB standard versions and 2GB or 4GB Plus versions.
The Stone players will be available on March 1st at £29.99, £37.99 and £49.99 respectively. Creative also announced a price drop on its Zen players with the 4GB version dropping to £79.99 and the 8GB version moving to £99.99. Read more

Man Arrested for Using MP3 Player

Beware pulling your MP3 player from your pocket while walking to the bus stop in Staffordshire. A man by the name of Darren Nixon was listening to tunes on his Philips MP3 player when a person in the vicinity mistook the player for a handgun.
The bystander called the cops, who followed the gent on CCTV until he got off the bus. The police then stopped him at gun point and took him to jail for questioning. According to Nixon the arrest happened in his neighborhood and is a stain on his character. Read more

Archos Media Club Comes to UK

Archos, the makers of the cool PMP devices, is going up against the likes of Apple and Microsoft in the UK for movie downloads. Currently available in France, Archos’ Media Club allows subscribers to download two movies per month.
Pocket-lint says Tony Limrick of Archos says Archos TV+ product was launching this week in London and talks with a number of other movie studios to bring content to the service in the UK were underway. Read more
