O2 MMS Viewing Website Closed After Security Flaw Found Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review O2 has closed its web site for viewing MMS messages sent to non-MMS compatible handsets after a serious flaw in security was found. The web site was used by users with MMS capable handsets who sent pictures to users without MMS handsets like the new iPhone 3G.

Owners of non-MMS capable handsets received a text with a link to view the picture online. It was discovered that the O2 site hosting the images had no security or log-in procedures and that anyone could view the images. Read more

Details on Possible Sony Ericsson Handset Launches on the 22nd Surface Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review I mentioned yesterday that Sony Ericsson was teasing the launch of a new product on its website. According to ITProPortal the launch is sure to be the W707 and W302 handsets. It says that the W707 is a cut down version of the W980 with no 8GB of memory.

Other items said to be cut from the W707 include the auto focus digital camera and the FM transmitter. The other handset ITProPortal says will launch is the W302. Read more

Now after the iPhone 3G launch day is over the O2 website states that there are no iPhone 3G left in stock currently.

O2 says that every customer interested in an iPhone 3G will get one by the end of this summer. The initial supply is limited and will be for some weeks. Read more

According to T3 Mossberg says he has played with the phone for a few weeks and that the 3G version is 3-5 times faster than the original for web surfing.

Mossberg says battery life is about 6 hours and that talk time for him was 4.5 hours, three hours less than he got out of the original iPhone. Mossberg also pointed out a syncing bug when used for Exchange or personal accounts. Read more
