Xbox 360 Sky Player Has A Failed Start

On Tuesday Microsoft and Sky launched the Sky Player on the Xbox 360 in the UK. The service stopped working pretty much right after launch due to overwhelming demand says Microsoft.
I cannot verify if the Sky Player service is now working fine on the Xbox 360. The last update from yesterday on the Xbox site says that Microsoft has implemented a revised rollout to access Sky Player on Xbox 360, to ensure that consumers experience both a smooth sign-up process and high-quality experience.

Sky Player Comes to Xbox Live

Xbox 360 owners may be glad to hear that Sky Player is now available on the Xbox 360 Xbox Live service. The player will support both on-demand and live broadcast TV. The arrival of the service on the Xbox made no delay in the existing service.
The Sky Player matches the look and feel of the Xbox Live service with wide scrolling tabs to indicate available on-demand or live TV channels. The Sky Player offers 38 channels, 24 of which support live streaming. All users will need an Xbox Live Gold membership to view the content. Read more

Facebook and Twitter Set for Xbox Next Month

Microsoft is determined to add all the extra features they can to the Xbox 360 to lure customers away from competing consoles. The latest feature addition is set to launch on November 17th and will see both Facebook and Twitter get added.
Both sites will be accessible through the Xbox website. The catch, as with most of the cool Xbox services, is that to access either social networking site you will need an Xbox Live Gold Account. Read more

Amazon pushes the newly released Nintendo Wii Console with Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resort and Motion Plus Controller with an offer of two free games.

PSP Go Prices Already Slashed

Sony's PSP Go has only been on the market for about a week and it seems that the console isn’t doing that great. Retailers are already slashing prices of the portable console to entice buyers to pick the system up.
Amazon, Play.com, HMV, and GAME have all cut the MSRP of the price by 11% down to £199. The move could perhaps get some mobile gamers to leave the Nintendo DS and iPod touch for the new console. Read more

FIFA 10 Breaks Sales Record In Europe

Electronic Arts today announced the record-breaking launch of EA SPORTS FIFA 10. With 1.7 million copies sold through at European retail in the first week, the game is the fastest selling sports game ever and EA’s biggest European launch in history.
Fans across Europe have been drawn to experience FIFA 10’s deep online feature set in record numbers. Since launch, more than 10 million gaming sessions have been played online, with over 155,000 gamers playing online simultaneously during peak playing hours.

Sony PSP Go Ships Today In UK

The Sony PSP Go launched yesterday in the United States. Today the PSP Go is starting to ship in the UK. On Amazon UK you can buy the new UMD-less PSP Go for £224.99.

Japan Only White PS3 Coming

Word has trickled in that Sony will be offering a new limited edition PS3 bundle for Final Fantasy XII. The new bundle will include a white PS3 with the caveat that the bundle is only going to be offered in Japan.
The white case of the PS3 will also be adorned with graphics from the game and will hit Japanese stores on December 17 for about £288. The best chance for you to get one of the bundles is to hit eBay where you can expect to pay much more than retail. Read more

Need for Speed Shift Tops on UK Game Charts

The EA franchise Need for Speed has been around for a long time and has offered titles that are based on track racing and those that are based on the street racing world. The latest game in the franchise called Need for Speed Shift has shot to the top of the UK game rankings.
The game debuted at the top of the top ten games for consoles this week with Guitar Hero 5 in second place. Third place went to Dirt 2 with Batman: Arkham Asylum in fourth. The first week for Shift saw the PS3 as the top selling platform for the game with 52% of copies sold for the PS3. Read more
